I read Taffy Brodesser-Agner’s Fleishman Is in Trouble about 3 years ago and found it both entertaining and eerily relatable. Therefore, I adored it. Because I love the book, I was initially hesitant to watch the show. Let me assuage your fears, folks: it’s *so good*. Jesse Eisenberg is perfectly intolerable, and Claire Danes and Lizzy Caplan showcase quite the complexities of modern motherhood and work. Watch this show and report back!
Folks have been pushing Bad Sisters on me for a while now, so I caved and now I must recommend it to you all as well. Divine. Sharon Horgan eats it up. No notes.
Listen
Regardless of whether or not you’re into astrology you’ll love this Aquarius playlist that my girlfriend Julie sent me. She and I love to send each other horoscope memes, but she just levelled up 10x with this. Best enjoyed with mood lighting and a solo dance party.
Read
Weirdly into short stories and essays this past week. I’ve been reading Ali Wong’s Dear Girls which is memoir-esque in its content and written in short stories with her daughters are the audience. Jennette McCurdy’s I’m Glad My Mother Died is a bracingly funny book with a tragic glimpse into the life of a child star. I’m 3/4 of the way through Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver and can confidently recommend this as your next hearty book.

Apparently the rest of Canada has been experiencing January as us Vancouver people do: very wetly. Trust me when I say get yourself a Rains backpack to keep your gear dry (and still look cute) and a Stutterheim rain jacket (the long Mosebacke is what I wear) to stay dry but not overheat. I don’t get fancy with the wellies - original Blundstone boots for life. Stock up and you’re essentially ready to move to BC.
