Your Weekly Breakdown
How on earth is it mid-November?
Weren’t we just sipping fizzy cocktails on the patio, running our hands through the salt and sand tangled in our hair while we gossiped and listened to the waves lapping on the shore?
And now, there is frost on the ground and the steam from my breath is visible while I scrape the windshield before I truck the kids to school. I’m digging through the depths of my closet for my warmer clothes, and have pulled a few fantastic long coats to throw over my uniform of jeans and a sweater. Are you cold? Bundle up. I’ve put together a plentiful list of recommended toppers for you to peruse below, along with what to watch, listen to, and read.

📺 Watch
The 6th and final season of The Crown (part 1) is out and I don’t know if my heart can take it. I cried during the trailer, so…
For the colder hearted, try The Killer, the latest from David Fincher (of Fight Club fame, along with Gone Girl and many, many others!). Starring Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton, we’re in for a tense film about an assassin who gets embroiled in a manhunt after a job gone wrong. Yes please!
If you can get to a theatre this weekend go see Saltburn, the latest from producer Margot Robbie and Director Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman), starring Jacob Elordi and Barry Keoghan (note to self: ideal casting for the younger brother of the male protagonist in my WIP novel). The details on the Saltburn story are sparse, but how often do we truly get to enjoy the element of surprise these days, hmm?
🎧 Listen
Someone said Doja Cat is “over”, and I mean….what? Her latest album Scarlet is SOLID. If you’re into modern rap, give it a whirl. The 17-track album is fun the entire way through.
Blonde Redhead is an easy yet unique listen that has been on in the background while I write this letter to you.
Andre 3000’s instrumental album, New Blue Sun, dropped yesterday and none of us are ready for this trip. The Outkast musician has put out an *very* eccentric album - all music (so many flutes!!!), no vocals, not even a beat, with great track titles like “I swear, I Really Wanted To Make A ‘Rap’ Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time.” I want to love it so much, but it’s really just a great background album to write or work to.

The internet is ablaze with women enjoying the fantasy novel Iron Flame, Rebecca Yarros’ follow up to the incredibly popular hit Fourth Wing. If you like dragons, magic, war epics, and incredibly steamy sex scenes, these are for you.
Don’t worry, if sci-fi and fantasy isn’t your thing, try a thriller with a twist like My Murder instead.
You’ve heard about the insane smoothies and expensive grocery shopping at Erewhon, but do you know the company’s history? Really enjoyed reading up on the absolutely bonkers story behind the cult-like grocer.
Sofia Coppola has given us so much: Marie Antoinette, The Virgin Suicides, and Lost in Translation, to name a few. Most recently Priscilla has hit the theatres, and while I haven’t had the chance to enjoy it yet, I gobbled up this piece on the Science of Scoring Sofia Coppola Movies.
🐣 Kiddos
The kids (and parents!) are loving this series of Science Comics. A great source of educational entertainment over the upcoming holidays, or a sweet little gift for small humans in your life.
For those littles who aren’t reading yet, I’ll shout myself out here and recommend the children’s story time podcast, Rainbow Stories for Rainy Days. The latest episode is called Fridge Friends and I promise they’ll be giggling with the silly rhymes and fart noises. You’re welcome.
