Cosmic Culture 09/06

Get ready to surf the wave of your emotions because Mars has moved into Cancer (just in time for back-to-school season).

Gaga Ooh La La

After a short n’ sweet (oops wrong pop star) Olympics opening ceremony performance, Lady Gaga is back in album and movie star form with the Venice Film Festival premiere of Joker: Folie à Deux…and more clues about the latest single from her upcoming seventh album, LG7. Gaga is also on the cover of Vogue’s October issue, revealing that she got engaged to fiancé Michael Polansky in April, months before her engagement was shared publicly (she’s been spotted flashing her EXTRA sparkly, massive ring this week in Venice, however). Fun fact: Gaga met her fiancè through her mom Cynthia (who met Michael through philanthropic overlap), and the rest was history! Turns out moms know best after all—especially in this brutal landscape of dumpster fire dating.

✨ Cosmic alert: It’s looking like a busy Fall for Lady Gaga. October’s solar eclipse and the super full moon will activate her Aries Sun (ego and identity) along with her Venus in Aries (artistry and relationships). Keep your eyes peeled for events around October 2 and 17 respectively - especially with LG7’s rumored first single dropping sometime in the month.

Dancing With the (fraud)Stars

With celebrity culture already under heavy scrutiny, the ABC network added more fuel to the fire this week by announcing that Anna Delvey, the fake German heiress convicted of larceny and theft, has been officially cast on Dancing with the Stars along with rugby queen Ilona Maher, Beverly Hills 90210 tragic icon Tori Spelling, and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks. Talk about a hodgepodge of talent. While some may view Anna as a scam artist, others revel in her charisma and ambition as she turned the tables on New York City’s social elite. She joins a notorious list of controversial figures who have previously competed for the mirror ball, including Sean Spicer, Paula Deen, and Carole Baskin. Regardless of how you feel about her, we can all agree that her ankle bracelet ballroom accessory takes us back to the early 2010s…when Lindsay Lohan’s house arrest was THE celeb culture moment (sidebar, are we OK as a society?). The more things change, the more they seem to stay the same.

✨ Cosmic alert: You wouldn’t be surprised to discover that Anna Delvey slash Sorokin is an Aquarius sun, archetypally known as the “genius” and “mastermind” of the Zodiac. However, Aquarius is also known as the “criminal” or the “rebel”—two sides of the same coin that often can be a toss-up depending on who you ask. Anna also has a Capricorn stellium—three or more planets in a sign—she has Mercury (communication, contracts, and people), Uranus (shocking and futuristic), and Neptune (illusions and creativity); Capricorn is the sign linked to business, ambition, and elite society. Need we say more?

She’s a Smooth Operator

It’s been an eternity (well, approximately six years give or take), since Sade’s delivered new music for public consumption. Thank the music gods because the reclusive singer-songwriter is finally coming out with a new song, Young Lion, as part of Transa—a new compilation album promoting trans and non-binary awareness. Organized by Aids and HIV relief not-for-profit group Red Hot, Transa will feature more than 100 artists including Sam Smith, Hunter Schafer, and Fleet Foxes. Young Lion is a tribute to Sade’s son, Izaak Theo Adu, who came out as a trans man in 2016. Transa, described as a “spiritual journey celebrating trans people,” will be released on November 22, 2024.

✨ Cosmic Alert: Press for Transa this week arrived just as Mars (the planet of action and courage) moved into Cancer (the sign of safe spaces, family, and the divine feminine). The NY Times describes Young Lion’s lyrics as “steeped in empathy and regret”, emblematic of tender and nurturing Cancer energy. Mars in Cancer is here to ultimately empower us to speak from the heart, to stand up for the underdog, and to always lead with our intuition and creativity.
