Cosmic Culture 07/13

The summer is heating up (and we’re not just talking temperature) as assertive Mars and unpredictable Uranus link up for a cosmic shakedown early next week. Hang onto your cowboy hats because things are about to pop off!

Mamma Mia!

Everyone and their mother is pregnant. Literally. From movie stars (Margot Robbie and Alexandra Daddario), to reality TV fixtures (Lindsay Hubbard) and the queen of mother karma herself (Gypsy Rose Blanchard), a wave of baby announcements rolled in over the last week—let us know if we missed any! Congratulations to all the momma-to-bes as we eagerly await the arrival of the next generation of nepo babies. And who doesn’t love a nepo baby with serious talent? Maya Hawke, Zelda Williams, Kaia Gerber, Willow Smith—take your pick!

✨ Cosmic alert: The New Moon in Cancer last weekend packed a powerful pregnancy punch! Cancer is the divine mother of the Zodiac, ruling over home and family. Since the moon naturally rules Cancer, the new moon ushered in a fresh chapter of motherhood to the collective. We wouldn’t be surprised if you hear of pregnancy-related news in your circles—especially for those with Aries, Cancer, and Libra placements.

That’s So Julia

Pride may be over, but Internet favorite and NY “It” girl Julia Fox is extending the party into July. Earlier this week, the Uncuh Jehmsssss star appeared to have come out as a lesbian in a viral TikTok video. This isn’t the first time Julia has been open about her relationship status—in Nov 2022, she shared that she may have a “gay bone” on the Ziwe show, expressing then that she needed to learn more about her sexuality:  “Like, maybe my ex-boyfriends weren’t wrong when they were calling me a lesbian and complaining that I never wanted to have sex with them.” So sorry, boys!

✨ Cosmic alert: Julia is a Cancer sun (core identity), Taurus moon (emotions), and Aquarius rising (physical form). She’s also got exuberant Jupiter sitting on her Aquarius ascendant, giving her a larger-than-life persona and extraordinary ability to go viral—Aquarius does rule the internet, after all. With Julia’s Aquarius Sun located in her eighth house of private affairs, it makes sense that part of her Aquarian journey would invite an exploration of her sexuality; Aquarians are known to be the rebels of the Zodiac, here to chart their unique path and find their true, aligned communities.

It’s a Wo(Man)’s World

Katy Perry’s new era is finally here. While nothing may ever top the pop perfection that is Teenage Dream, Katy hopes to deliver on some catchy dance-pop music with the release of Woman’s World—the lead single from her upcoming 143 album (you better celebrate). Fans couldn’t help but notice, however, that the “feminist” anthem was co-written by six people (four of whom were men), produced by three men (including Dr. Luke—the producer accused of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse by Kesha), with an accompanying male gaze-y music video directed by, you guessed it, a man. Whose world is it anyway? Irony’s apparently.

✨ Cosmic Alert: Katy Perry is a triple Scorpio (Sun, Moon, and Rising). She’s also got Pluto, lord of the underworld, sitting on her Sun (identity), giving Katy a rather complicated persona. It can be difficult to understand who the real Katy is, but one thing’s for sure, she’s here to do some serious healing and shadow work around her identity. She also has her Mars (behavior) in traditional Capricorn and her third house of perspective; it’s worth noting that Mars in Capricorn can evoke conservative machismo energy (read: potential for deep-rooted internal misogyny).
