The Looong Weekend Edition
Happy long weekend!
I've just touched down on the east coast after a red eye flight with both kids. Why do I do this to myself?
Being spontaneous isn't a top skill of mine, but I'm working on it, especially around being adventurous with the kids. Lately it's too easy to exist within the comfort of our home, tend to the garden, and keep to ourselves. So, we've arrived to visit family and find ourselves both bleary-eyed and cheerful, having survived the "plane sleepover" and now breathing in that fresh, crisp, coastal air, ready for a fun weekend connecting with our loved ones.
What are you up to this weekend? Whether you're staying close to home or heading somewhere to explore, there are some great recommendations below for you to peruse over the weekend. I hope you find some downtime and use it well!
Big hugs,
Emily

And finally, it’s Penelope Featherington’s time to shine. Let me tell you, you will be slack-jawed after the final scene of episode 4. (Netflix)
Apples Never Fall is the TV adaptation of the book by Liane Moriarty (author of Big Little Lies) and it’s the drama we should all be studying. (Prime)

Wives Like Us is the latest from famed fashion writer Plum Sykes. Less fluffy rom com, more a satirical take on the life of the British Elite living in the English countryside. It’s a refreshing and lush escape.
For something a bit more edgy, I’m loving The Ice Coven, a nordic thriller and book 2 of 4 in a series by Max Seeck. If you missed our previous recommendation of book 1, you should start out with The Witch Hunter to see if it’s your jam.

A24 hasn’t always been an incredibly successful production studio. The savvy adopted fashion’s love of branding to transform itself from a film distributor into a social-media-savvy cultural phenomenon. A neat industry case study. (System)

With all of the noise about tradwives (typically women who believes in and practice traditional gender roles and marriages) their food-based TikToks are definitely hypnotic. Most meals are made from scratch, and each video is cut and edited and voiced over perfectly - yes, they are tradwives, but they must make content! Anyway, one brave author attempts to cook like one for 48 hours and documents it for this very entertaining piece. (Eater)
A spectacular profile on the Queen of the Book Club Reese Witherspoon. She has turned out to be the literary equivalent of a fit model — a reliable bellwether for readers in search of intelligent, discussion-worthy fare.
