Holiday countdown

Your Weekly Breakdown

đŸ“ș Watch

If you can make it out to a movie theatre, Next Goal Wins is very, very worth it.

For those that prefer cuddling up at home, hold your breath and watch a very sexy cast get really stressed out in Leave the World Behind on Netflix.

Also out are the super weird and twisted movie May December will likely be a big contender for several film awards, and the newest ultimately cheesy and perfect holiday movie, Best. Christmas. Ever!

🎧 Listen

This week, everyone and their mother posted about their Spotify Wrapped. My favourite fun fact was that I wound up listening to 1100 different artists throughout the year. I do *a lot* of listening and scouting to bring you guys new and awesome tunes, so I felt pretty proud of that little tidbit!

First of all, Beyoncé just dropped a single yesterday called MY HOUSE following the release of the Renaissance film. Best we start there
after you’ve listened, come back for the rest!

Tirzah’s latest album trip9love
??? Is very much in the ‘experimental’ category, with its out-of-tune piano and gnarly drum beats, her gauzy voice and moody lyrics. Big like from me. She and her producers goal was to make the album feel like a long song. Goal: attained.

Blues-y, angsty-, ragged rock from Prewn makes the commuting a lot more bearable. She’s like if Brandi Carlile went full feminist rage howling. Love it. My only dislike is the mixing - I found myself straining to hear more of her amazing voice.

For those in the mood for some feel good pop, I’m into Baby Queen’s album Quarter Life Crisis (girl you don’t even know!!!). She’s toured with Olivia Rodrigo and definitely has that gritty pop vibe to her music. Her song i can’t get my shit together is
.practically perfect in every way.

📚 Read

I stayed up way too late on Thursday night, absolutely swallowed whole by the family drama in The Exhibitionist by Charlotte Mendelson. It’s like Succession-level insane family members wrapped up in a White Lotus-esque plot. At one point I realized my eyebrows were permanently raised in shock at some of the incredible dialogue. You’ll love it.

The Mystery Guest is the second novel by Nita Prose, author of the massive hit The Maid. I remember her debut as being the book that broke a very dry reading spell, and The Mystery Guess is a delicious little follow up. Enjoy!

đŸ’« Indulge

Please help yourself to the Holiday Wishlists I’ve put together! They are awesome.

🐣 Kiddos

One of the grandparents is offering (threatening?) to get this drone for my kids and I don’t love it but I also don’t hate it. This could be pretty fun, especially if you enjoy talking through the mechanics of it with them! Nerds.

This Harry Potter cookbook is on both of my kids’ wish lists this year. It’s been a while since we’ve read the books and watched the movies, but clearly the magic is still there for them. While I am not sure who is going to cook with them (ha), I am trying to lean into their interests as they express them or show enthusiasm! Guess we’re cooking.
